Firefox for iOS includes a built-in password generator that helps you create strong, unique passwords for your online accounts.
When signing up for a new account or updating a password, Firefox can suggest a secure password and save it automatically.
Generate a password
The first time you enter a password on any sign-up form or site, Firefox for iOS will prompt you to use a strong, randomly generated password. You can either:
- Tap Use strong password to accept the suggested strong password.
- Ignore the prompt to use a strong password and proceed to write your own.
Use the suggested password
When you choose to use the suggested password, Firefox automatically fills the password field with a strong, randomly generated password.
- This saves you the effort of creating a secure password yourself. If you ask Firefox to suggest a password again in the same session, it will offer the same one for consistency.
Save password
After accepting the generated password, Firefox will automatically save it to your account.
- A confirmation message will appear, notifying you that the password has been saved successfully.
Update password
As you proceed with changes to your account details, Firefox will prompt you to save the updated login information.
Benefits of using the Firefox password generator
- Strong and unique passwords: The generated passwords are complex and difficult to guess, enhancing your online security.
- Convenience: Save time and effort by letting Firefox create and store secure passwords for you.
- Sync across devices: Your saved passwords are available on any device where you sign in to your Mozilla account, making it easy to log in wherever you are.
