Good news from the #LosMejores2024 awards in Madrid, organised by leading Spanish automotive magazine Motor 16 and online media group Merca2.es. #StellantisProOne was recognised 🏆 for its 2024 leadership of the commercial vehicles (CV) market in Spain. Judges were impressed by the launch of 12 new models during the year, the electrification of its entire range and the introduction of innovations that have transformed both driving experience and operational efficiency. In the first ten months of the year, #ProOne has strengthened its leadership of the Spanish CV market with almost 50 000 registrations, 21% more than in the same period last year, and a 36% market share.

#EV car sales in Spain have increased by more than 10% in April in comparison to 2023. Hybrid sales also increased by more than 18%. It seems even with these increases the Government of Spain's target of 200,000 new sales will be missed however. VW ends Polo production in Spain for future electric car production Volkswagen is transitioning its Pamplona, Spain, plant from producing the Polo combustion-engine model to focusing on the future of electric vehicles (EVs), as part of its broader effort to offer affordable small EVs. The production of the Polo in Europe has ended after 40 years, although it will still be sold in Europe with models made in South Africa. At the Pamplona plant, production will shift to electric models starting in 2026, including two fully electric small SUVs—one from VW and one from Skoda. The new EVs will be built on a modified version of VW’s MEB platform, known as MEB Entry, which is front-wheel drive instead of the rear- or all-wheel-drive systems used in current MEB-based electric cars. This platform is key to making EVs more affordable, with prices closer to combustion-engine vehicles. Skoda’s version of the EV will be called the Epiq, with an expected starting price of around 25,000 euros. VW also plans to release its ID. 2X SUV and a hatchback called the ID. 2all, also priced under 25,000 euros, both using the MEB Entry platform. The ID. 2all, which is shorter but more spacious than the current Polo, will feature a longer wheelbase and greater trunk capacity, offering up to 490 liters, or 1,330 liters with the rear seats folded. It will also debut VW’s new design language for its electric cars, with styling inspired by the Polo and Golf but more traditional than the ID.3. The front-wheel-drive platform also allows more room for luggage and will come with two battery options: 38 kWh and 56 kWh. The larger 56 kWh battery will provide a maximum range of around 450 kilometers, while the entry-level model with the smaller battery will have a reduced range. This shift positions VW to compete in the affordable small electric vehicle segment while maintaining familiar design elements and functionality.
