You're facing burnout in a change project. How can you navigate setbacks to achieve success?
On the onset, we need to set clear SMART project objectives to ensure project is achievable within reasonable timeline. Scheduling regular check-ins to hear team members and provide feedback and coaching is essential. If those of you who are familiar with 6-Sigma DMAIC (Design, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) methodology, I would like to encourage us to design/develop a project as accurate as possible on the onset to avoid spending time to rework. This of course, will lead to project success and importantly motivated project team members who achieve job satisfaction... and NO burnout! Do look out and support each other as much as possible. Together, we can achieve better results!

What are the best strategies for getting the most out of a mentoring relationship?
Besides identifying a right mentor who matches mentee's needs and interests, it is important to feel comfortable with your mentor. The chemistry of connecting has to be present. The next thing we need to focus on is knowing each other and start building the relationship. For mentor, it is important to establish what are the key objectives of your mentee to pursue this mentoring relationship. The next thing is to discover mentee's strengths and guide him or her to leverage his or her strengths to achieve the objectives. Strategize and take small steps and celebrate small wins. Importantly, mentor is there throughout to facilitate progress and to ensure sustainability.

What can you learn from a mentor with more experience than you?
As a mentor, first, I need to build a rapport with my mentees. Listening and understanding the them and their compelling needs. Giving them the comfort to be opened to sharing. Once the bond has been built, mentoring become easier. Confidentiality is mutual and mentoring is 2-way. We can learn from each other and the relationship will grow into strong friendship.
