𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝟭𝟵 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Welcome to my first practical video! Please bear with me as I work on improving my voice and flow. I appreciate your understanding and support! I will be showing a practical example of the new compiler by comparing react 18 & react 19. We will be taking example of 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝘁.𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼 usage in react 18 or previous versions. Please play the attached video to see in the action. Before going in to Practical, let's understand it briefly. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗿 is an experimental tool designed to optimize React applications by automatically applying memoization. It works with plain JavaScript and adheres to React's rules without requiring code changes. The compiler also includes an eslint plugin that highlights optimization opportunities. It's compatible with React 19 RC and can be integrated into various build systems like Babel, Vite, and Next.js. 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Enhances performance by automatically memoizing React components. 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗨𝘀𝗲: Works with plain JavaScript without requiring changes to the codebase. "I (Steven) once worked for a big client that maintained a product that contained over a hundred man-years of code. DI was applied ubiquitously, which was an absolute plus. To support object composition, however, they used Spring.NET as their Di container, which solely supported XML configuration files at the time. To make matters worse, the version of Spring.NET they used didn’t support Auto-Wiring. This not only required every mapping to be explicitly defined in big XML files, but every constructor Dependency needed to be specified too. With over a dozen teams working on that code base, these Spring.NET XML configuration files were not only verbose, brittle, and maintenance heavy, they also caused merge conflicts on a regular basis." 𝘋𝘦𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺 𝘐𝘯𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘴, 𝘗𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘴 by Steven van Deursen and Mark Seemann 𝐌𝐲 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 Reading this quote reminded me of a similar project I worked on about 10 years ago. That project also used Spring.NET for dependency injection. Making any change to the DI setup often felt like opening Pandora’s box—you knew problems were inevitable. In an attempt to "improve" things, someone introduced Autofac on top of Spring.NET. And as if two DI containers weren’t complex enough, we eventually added SimpleInjector to the mix! You can imagine the chaos of managing three DI containers in one codebase. This project was a gold mine for junior developers. They could experience nearly every approach to software development under the sun. The project itself was ancient, having started in the '90s, and had grown into a giant monolith. After working with several DI containers over the years, I can confidently say that Spring.NET was the worst. The lack of auto-wiring and the reliance on verbose, error-prone XML configuration files made it a nightmare for large teams, or for many teams working on the same codebase.
