Tasks of the JSA

What is the JSA responsible for?

  • Checking the implementation of the provisions of the Schengen Convention, as regards the technical support function of the Schengen Information System
  • Examining difficulties of application or interpretation arising during the operation of the Schengen Information System
  • Studying problems that occur with the exercise of independent supervision by the national supervisory authorities of the Contracting Parties or in the exercise of the right of access to the system
  • Drawing up harmonised proposals for joint solutions to existing problems
