Professors Horacio Espinosa and Sridhar Krishnaswamy have introduced a new machine learning framework designed to enable data-efficient design of advanced metamaterials. By reducing the amount of data required to model and optimize material behavior, the framework offers a more efficient approach to developing materials with properties not found in nature — including those used in aerospace, optics, and energy applications. https://lnkd.in/gP9UVAVe

Professor Richard Lueptow has received an honorary doctorate from Aix-Marseille University, the largest university in France. Lueptow formally accepted the honor on April 4 at the Aix-Marseille University Scientific Soiree, held on the grounds of the Pharo Palace in Marseille, France. The honorary doctorate was awarded for overall research excellence as well as for collaboration with researchers at Aix-Marseille University. Over the past 24 years, Lueptow has collaborated with five individual researchers and their students and post-doctoral researchers, resulting in around 20 papers. Congrats, Rich! https://lnkd.in/gGQc46nd

For the first time, researchers at Northwestern University have captured a catalytic reaction in real time at atomic resolution using SMART-EM (single-molecule atomic-resolution time-resolved electron microscopy). This work by a team with Professors Tobin Marks and Michael Bedzyk unveils previously unseen reaction intermediates and pathways, offering profound insights into catalyst behavior. https://lnkd.in/g6jcb5C7

Your skin is talking and now, we can finally listen. Professors John Rogers, Guillermo Ameer, and Yonggang Huang have developed a groundbreaking wearable device that measures gas exchange through the skin, offering a new, non-invasive approach to monitoring health and metabolism. This advancement could pave the way for early detection of metabolic disorders and personalized health insights through continuous skin analysis. After being reimagined by Professor Ryan Truby, a core course on soft materials got a futuristic upgrade as students are now using 3D printing to design, prototype, and test soft structures in real time. This hands-on approach doesn’t just teach theory; it immerses students in the engineering of the future. https://lnkd.in/gz8tGVRN
