Pew Research Center has new data from an April 7 - 13 poll on views of Trump and his policies: - 40% of Americans approve of Trump's job performance, down 7 pts from February - Among Trump's predecessors dating back to Reagan, the only other leader who did not enjoy majority approval at his 100-day mark was Bill Clinton (49% in April 1993) - 45% have confidence in Trump to make good decisions about the economy, his lowest rating on this measure since 2019. Some other findings: - 59% disapprove of the administration's tariff increases - 55% disapprove of the administration's cuts to federal departments and agencies - 78% say that if a federal court rules a Trump administration action illegal, the administration has to follow the court's ruling -- and it rises to 88% if it's the Supreme Court issuing the ruling - Half of Americans say Trump's policies are weakening U.S. standing in the world compared with Biden's policies, while 38% say they are putting the U.S. in a stronger position internationally. Rising rates of poor mental health among youth have been called a national crisis. This is often linked to factors like the COVID-19 pandemic or poverty. Still, some officials, like former Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, name social media as a major threat to today’s teenagers. Our latest survey of U.S. teens ages 13 to 17 and their parents finds that parents are generally more worried than their children about the mental health of teenagers today. And while both groups call out social media’s impact on young people’s well-being, parents are more likely to make this connection. Still, teens are growing more wary of social media for their peers. Roughly half of teens (48%) say these sites have a mostly negative effect on people their age, up from 32% in 2022. More than three years after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Americans remain divided along partisan lines in their views of the conflict, as well as in their attitudes toward NATO and perceptions of Russia. For the first time in five years, the share of Americans with an unfavorable opinion of China has fallen from the year before – albeit slightly, from 81% in 2024 to 77% in 2025.
