When you’re setting up your conversion in Campaign Manager, you can assign your conversion a monetary value to help you track actions more effectively and better understand your campaign’s impact. When you assign a conversion value, you can learn more about the return on investment (ROI) for your campaign, instead of only seeing the number of conversions that happened.
Here's a tip
Types of conversion values
When assigning a conversion value, you can choose either a dynamic or same value:
Value type | Definition | Benefit | Additional information |
---|---|---|---|
Dynamic | Dynamic values change based on different factors, such as the type of product that was purchased or the time of the purchase. | They give you the flexibility to adapt your conversion value to changing business conditions and customer behaviors, more accurately capture real-time conversion values, and can help you optimize your campaigns. | You can send a dynamic value either through an API or document upload. A default value is required in Campaign Manager. |
Same | The same value you assign in Campaign Manager will apply to all conversions. | Because they remain the same, same values are easier to implement and manage than dynamic values, but might not accurately reflect the true value of conversions in different business conditions. | A value is required in Campaign Manager. |
You can also choose not to assign a conversion value, but this is not recommended, since you won’t be able to measure the impact of your ads.
Dynamic conversion values
You can assign a dynamic conversion value for all types of conversions: Conversions API, Insight Tag, and CSV upload.
Types of conversions | How to assign dynamic values | Learn more |
---|---|---|
Conversions API | Conversion value information can be set through the API. | Learn more about LinkedIn's Conversions API. |
Insight Tag | You can set up your Insight Tag to send custom conversion events, including dynamic conversion value. | Learn how to set a dynamic conversion value for your Insight Tag. |
CSV upload | Set the amount for your conversion in the CSV conversion data file. Keep in mind, you’ll need to re-upload a new document each time you want to change the value. | Learn how to upload a conversion data CSV file to Campaign Manager. |
Monitor reports to optimize campaigns
When you assign a conversion value, you can review your campaign reports to optimize your campaigns.
From the Advertise page in Campaign Manager, use the Conversions and Leads report to review the Total Conversion Value metric. This metric shows the total value generated by your conversions (value per conversion times conversions). You must have a conversion value assigned to populate this metric.
