I often value impressive Github more than a CS degree 1. Visible Code Repositories: An empty GitHub is not helpful (some engineers only have private repos). A profile with tangible examples provides insights into a candidate’s coding skills. Active involvement in open-source projects is a big plus. 2. Commit Activity (Green Boxes): A quick indicator of a candidate's commitment and consistency in contributing code. 3. Type of Projects: The diversity of a candidate's projects reveals their range of experiences and interests. 4. Followers and Stars: Indicates the popularity and impact of a candidate's work and their interests.

How can you ensure you're hiring the best candidates on a tight deadline?
Top 2 problems - Clear target and Speed. 1/ Interview scoring rubrics. Some interviewers say yes to everyone; some rarely say yes to anyone. Clear rubrics help with fast and consistent decisions. 2/ Speed. Less Waiting - More Hiring. Many companies struggle to complete the interview process in 2 weeks, which invites candidates to drop out and consider competing offers.

More channels are not always better. The challenge lies in identifying the best channels that offer a balance of quality, speed, efficiency, and cost. For entry-level roles, job boards may flood you with candidates, but they're not ideal for top-tier MIT/FANG engineers. Leveraging networks is effective for large companies but lacks speed for smaller ones. The best agencies offer an instant pipeline of candidates, great for smaller or lesser-known companies with limited networks and inbound applicants. The key is not utilizing all channels but strategically choosing ones that best align with your hiring needs.

If a Hiring Manager wants 10 must-haves, 10 interviewers, high bar, low salaries, 10 roles filled right away —while not impossible, it will take a lot of hard work and luck:) Too many or no 'must-haves'—both are bad. If too many must-haves, stack rank them and explore trade-offs. Ensure well-defined interview topics and scorecards. Divergent topics and evaluation criteria can lead to confusing feedback and over/under-correct requirements. Requirements and the interview process often evolve. Monitoring changes and inconsistencies closely and adjust early and often to stay aligned. Navigating evolving requirements can be tricky! What are your go-to strategies?
