Critical infrastructures are attractive targets for cyberattacks. According to a new article from #Forbas, Brian Harrell, VP and CSO at Avangrid, highlighted at the #SAP for Energy and Utilities Conference that we must recognize an interconnected world introduces new threats and additional enemy avenues of approach. "Let’s ensure that security continues to have a prominent seat at the procurement table," said Harrell. The threat landscape has gone from basic phishing and DDOS attacks to very advanced malware and ransomware designed to disable safety systems or industrial control systems. But utilities often lack the resources and technical capacity to adopt rigorous cybersecurity practices, leaving them vulnerable to attacks.
