When adding all of their clients to a new Confluent Cloud-based architecture, interactive ad-tech platform Skai realized their initial design would require 90,000 topics in order to accommodate everyone. Really interesting article on how to build #serverless data pipelines with Kestra, Modal, dbt, and BigQuery. It got me digging deeper into Kestra and I’m seriously impressed by their open-source orchestration platform. The workflow UI is super slick and you can easily integrate and build automations with just about any data stack you can think of. Let’s go back 14 years with Hien Luu to when the big data revolution began. What were the key developments? TL;DW → Apache Hadoop and MapReduce were the early open-source tools fundamental to enabling distributed data storage and processing. → Tools like Apache Pig (Yahoo Lab) or Apache Hive (Facebook) were built on top of MapReduce concepts to simplify the process, enabling data scientists/analysts to handle large datasets without deep programming knowledge. → Apache Spark (Berkeley Lab), with its in-memory processing, speed up big data processing even further. → Technologies like Airflow emerged to manage and orchestrate data pipelines. This means our customers can now customize Claude 3 Haiku with their own data to build GenAI applications tailored to their specific needs, while keeping their data secure. Since we launched the preview a few months ago, we've already seen some great use cases. One of our customers, Robin AI, a legal AI company, is using this feature to optimize legal workflows and help lawyers speed up contract processes. With a fine-tuned Claude 3 Haiku in Bedrock, they are helping lawyers finish contract review processes 90% faster.
