I'm ashamed to admit that I often click through to forums like Reddit for answers to my informational queries, so it's hypocritical of me to complain 👀 However, first-hand experience and back-and-forth debates draw me in every single time. While on-page SEO work (fixing page code and such) and link-building are sound practices, what we have found is that writing good content with preplanned custom urls gets you on page 1 even faster. We've seen it happen in 2-4 weeks. I know people say that "people don't read" but in a business context, I find that they do, as long as you give them something they can use and that is easy to read. To this day, I see people with long blocky blog posts and am perplexed they go that route for B2B content...

Here is my main takeaway from the WP Engine's Agency Parner Insights meetup yesterday. (Btw. delicious banana bread, where did you get it?) WordPress has a low entry threshold. So, it infiltrates audiences who wouldn't consider it as an engine for a site. Namely, the enterprise organisations. I understand the reluctancy. Due to the size of the org, they need to consider security, accessibility, scalability, translations, machine learning, currencies, and whatnot. They're used to cashing out enormous sums to get these covered. But Bob comes in and pitches WordPress. It's free, so it can't be good. It's open source, so it can't be secure. Then Mary and Timmy say they worked with it in their last job and it was a shit experience. Poor Bob. There're brands who already trusted WordPress - Disney, CNN, Wetherspoon, Salesforce, Aljazeera. I don't know the extent to which they use the CMS. But it's reassuring that someone in that company thought it was a good move. That person must have been really smart. Remember that WordPress is a tool. A damn reliable and flexible tool that's only as good as the person creating with it. Because of the low entry requirements, it attracts professionals from all walks of life. As in any population, you'll find more mediocre workers than skilled once. You'll find more passionless workers than passionate once. As WordPress keeps up the momentum and spreads the reach, we see a fresh wave of businesses standing against the CMS, blaming their experience. But the truth is it wasn't WordPress that let them down, but the people who built with it. If you got this far, here are the reasons why enterprise, and companies overall, should consider WordPress. - Pay once for the service and stay free from long-term subscriptions. - Add, remove, change - do whatever the hell you want with it. - Scale the site as you grow in whichever direction you like. - Enjoy the Gutenberg page editor - you got to see it to appreciate it. - Easily find an extra pair of hands to help with the site - the market is full of us. - Invest in marketing without worrying the site couldn't handle it. - Own it - in the world of monthly payments, isn't that nice?
