- [Narrator] Manufacturers continue to develop devices to join the Internet of things. In this segment, we'll learn why it's essential for companies to design devices with security in mind. As we see in this graphic, commercial and consumer IoT implementations have started to be able to prevent malicious activity. In the commercial space, there are some options to detect and respond. However, there are rare options to detect and respond in consumer devices leading to a white space in IoT security for consumers. IoT devices have a number of different challenges that manufacturers must address before connecting objects like buildings, wearables, cars, and homes to the IoT. When developing devices, manufacturers should keep in mind the potential IoT vulnerabilities and take a moment and consider the consequences if the device is not thoroughly tested.
