When you implement an intervention and it seems to be working well, celebrate. There might be a collective sigh of relief. You have successfully solved some dysfunction. But a word of caution: The work is never truly complete. Your organization is always changing and sustaining company health requires ongoing attention. Like a gardener, you must watch how things change and grow and look out for what's not working. Sometimes when one dysfunction is resolved, another one pops up. This is normal in complex systems. In this lesson, you'll establish continuous monitoring and feedback mechanisms. The first is an anonymous annual organizational health survey. Include meaningful questions that help measure outcomes around employee engagement, leadership effectiveness, and internal policies and practices. The survey will also help you measure differences among populations -- across seniority, department, tenure, race, gender, and age, for example. An annual survey is not enough, however…
