This is known as a Salesforce Developer Environment, and it gives you a safe space to explore all the tools and features without impacting any live data. So this might also be a good option if you don't want to practice in your real version. A developer environment also allows advanced users to develop and test existing or new features and custom applications. The URL to sign up for a developer org changes periodically, so it's best to search for the Salesforce developer org signup page.
