- [Instructor] Measuring performance in Tableau is very simple. You should do this once you've built out your workbook and you just want to make sure everything is working great. The other thing I'll call out before I show you how to do this is that you don't need to do this with every single workbook. You really only need to do this if you're starting to identify a problem or your workbook's getting slow and you want to understand what's causing that. To start a performance recording in Tableau desktop, head up to the top menu, go to the help option, and then go to settings and performance. Under that option, you'll see an option right here at the bottom to start performance recording. If we go ahead and do that, nothing will happen. You won't see anything happening here on screen because it's happening in the background. Now, you should start to use the dashboard as a user would.
