How can LLMs be valuable to developers as an assistant in finding and fixing insecure code? There are a lot of implications in trusting AI or LLMs to not only find vulns, but in producing code that fixes an underlying problem without changing an app's intended behavior. Stuart McClure explains how combining LLMs with agents and RAGs helps make AI-influenced tools more effective and useful in the context that developers need -- writing secure code. https://bit.ly/3A0LEdn #CyberSecurity

"The only thing more dangerous than a developer rushing a release? A developer conspiring with Security. 🚀🔒 Means, motive, opportunity… and suddenly, you've got the perfect crime... or the perfect deployment. Recently, I came across an alarming story of a job scam shared on Reddit, and I believe it's worth sharing to protect fellow developers. A developer applied for a "Front-end Design Developer" role through Codementor, but things quickly turned suspicious. After receiving a Bitbucket repo link from the supposed “CTO,” dev was asked to clone the repo, fix some errors, and only then proceed with the interview. Sounds legit, right? 🤔 But the real twist? The repo contained obfuscated JavaScript code that wasn’t immediately clear. Upon closer inspection, the script attempted to gather sensitive information from the developer's system, such as: - Operating system details - Browser data - Cryptocurrency wallet info - Even access to macOS keychains (yes, passwords and sensitive data!) The script sent this data to a remote server—a blatant attempt at data theft Lesson learned: Always be suspicious of unsolicited code from strangers, even if it comes with a job offer. How to Protect Yourself: - Always review any code or repo before running it locally, especially if you’re not sure about the source. - Run suspicious projects in isolated environments to limit potential harm.(Use Sandboxes/Virtual Machines) - When someone refuses to provide clear explanations or insists on you running something without context, pause and investigate. - Like this developer, always report such incidents on platforms like Codementor or wherever the scam occurs. This was a close call—but a stark reminder for all of us in the tech community. Stay safe, stay vigilant. #CyberSecurity #JobScam #DeveloperSafety #StayVigilant #React #WebDevelopment #TechFraud #npm #hacking #cybersecurityawareness #cloud #devops #python #hackers #cto #techlead #hiring #interviews

Hello folks! 🌟 Just wrapped up installing SonarQube to enhance our code quality. It's an excellent tool that scans code for bugs, security vulnerabilities, and more. Integrated it into our CI/CD pipeline, and the results are already impressive. Highly recommend for teams aiming to keep their code clean and secure! 🚀 For a detailed walkthrough, check out my https://lnkd.in/gmrqYS7X #sonarqube,#devops,#starops

What if Bad Code Were a Crime? So, I saw a post on Facebook yesterday, and it got me thinking… What if developers faced penalties every time they wrote bad code? I mean, imagine your salary getting docked, or worse, a fine for every sloppy line! But let’s take it up a notch—what if writing bad code was a crime? Imagine the chaos: 👮 "Sir, you're under arrest for making the production server crash." 👨💻 "But it was just a small bug!" 👮 "Tell it to the judge!" Okay, maybe that’s a bit extreme. But here’s the thing: Would we still churn out spaghetti code if there were real consequences? Truth is, most of us can write better code, but we sometimes don't. Maybe it's time to start treating code quality with the seriousness it deserves—not because we're scared of penalties, but because it’s the right thing to do. Imagine how much smoother our tech lives would be if we all wrote code we were truly proud of! No more frantic 3 AM debugging sessions or mysterious crashes. Just clean, efficient, and reliable code. So, here’s my 2 cents: Let’s all aim to write code that would make even the toughest "code cop" proud. Not because we’re afraid of fines or jail time, but because great code makes the engineering world a better place for everyone. Let’s code responsibly!
