There’s something I’ve been meaning to share with my network for a while now, and I’m finally taking a moment to write it down. At the last Audio Developer Conference (ADC'24), I had the chance to reconnect with some amazing folks — including former colleagues from my time at Apple. During our chats, they shared something that genuinely excited me: Apple had publicly released the Audio Instrument tool — something I originally developed as a personal project for years to be used for internal debugging and development. It was incredibly rewarding to see this tool made available to everyone, not just because of my personal connection, but because it exposes a wealth of detail about how Mac's CoreAudio system works — especially the audio server, aka "the HAL". It’s a powerful resource for audio developers, whether you're debugging performance issues or simply trying to deepen your understanding of the system architecture. In fact, I wish I had similar tooling here at Meta haha. :) If you work in audio, I highly recommend exploring it. Hope you find it as useful as I have! https://lnkd.in/gGA4R9N8
This looks fantastic - great work!!
That looks like a neat tool for debugging and improving performance on CoreAudio! Certainly going to dig in. Also congratulations on having your work made publicly available!
Great tool indeed!

3hGreat Felipe that you addressed one of the big problems that makes audio development on desktop so tricky. Being aware of what's happening is always the fastest path to understand, fix, optimize and avoid problems!
