I quit my first job because I didn’t like my co-workers. (Since then, I’ve hired 400+ for my own company) Here’s the no.1 thing I’ve learned about building teams: Culture matters more than talent alone. You need to hire for attitude, not just skill. People can learn skills, but attitude is what sticks. Culture is what took us from 6 to multi-7 figures in profit. Every hiring round I: 1. I look for people who align with our values 2. Ask how they handle setbacks 3. Set expectations immediately Because it's better to be up front with it than regret it later on when the hires don't work. Companies fail when culture comes second. Repost this to inspire leaders to take culture seriously ♻️ P.S... What value matters most to you?
This is true. Attitude makes a big difference, if the energy and values aren't aligned then it's not a great match despite the skillset.
If you want growth, Make the culture positive and productive.
Lauren, I agree
Culture is a two way street but very important.
Absolutely agree, culture is paramount. Skill can be learned, attitude is inherent. Brilliant post.
Definitely hire for attitude Lauren - because everything else can be taught!
Skills can be taught, attitude endures. Hire character, build strong culture
Hiring people who share your company’s values can make a big difference. It is more important to have someone who fits your company rather than hiring someone with great skills.
