“[With LLMs], the value is in automation, and in enterprise autonomy. Maybe you can be 50% more productive with a copilot, but [unlocking] all of the economic value requires thinking about AI as a type of labor.” Watch Palantir CTO Shyam Sankar explain why the most powerful toolchain is the one that arrives at Day 2 problems faster.
Spot on… no more text generation parlor tricks… automate actions in chains to support business outcomes
lol. I was automating work that could require tens or hundreds of workers before AI was a thing. But this was work that you’d naturally expect to be automated, but a lot of companies did not due to poor competency, laziness, culture or general lack of investment.. So AI is good, but if you weren’t automating before AI, what were you doing? Not that I advocate extreme elimination of some work types.. eg: If a computer can process a transaction you place online or when you call (eg: ecommerce and buying online services) that is perfect - human isn’t adding much value copying / pasting.. but I am a big fan of getting rid of self-serve checkouts, or not making them the default and having work for people serving people. Don’t think supermarkets pass on labour savings with this technology, so they should pay someone to do the work.. Also if you’re looking at bringing AI into your workforce, I think the ethical thing is to have it augment your workflows, and not to replace someone, or if you replace workload, have that person do something else with their free time.
What is the incentive for SMEs to train the LLMs with such a severe risk of becoming un-needed and losing their job is my only concern

Interesting take! But isn’t the real challenge how businesses actually operationalize automation beyond the happy path? At AItomization, we’ve seen firsthand that the value lies in designing AI systems that seamlessly integrate into workflows, handle edge cases, and empower teams to scale. Are we too focused on the problems of today, instead of unlocking the transformative potential of AI in redefining operations? Curious to hear other thoughts!
