"Code becomes content. Coders become creators." -- I kept coming back to this idea throughout the day today at #GoogleIO. This is my first time at this event, and it’s been 4 years since my internship here. After OpenAI’s mindblowing upgrades of #GPT4o, I was flying to Mountain View with quite a bit of anxiety. I’ve been somewhat rooting for Google in the AI race, and this last batch of GPT updates felt like they were going to leave folks from Googleplex in the dust. But Google has introduced a truckload of new things today. Sure, Gemini can’t help you with your meditation/breathing (yet). But here are some releases that felt especially exciting to me: 1. Gemini for Workspace (looks like my yearly bookkeeping reconciliation has become much easier); 2. Project Astra (and a mysterious pair of glasses of the gal holding the phone 🤔); 3. No more XML UI editing on Android (where have you been in 2014 when I was suffering with backward-compatible layouts 🤣) 4. Deadly warning for various apps, including Grain, JasperAI, Chegg, pretty much all meal planning apps, and so many more; 5. Project Starline (I’ve been on the lookout for this for a while now. This one seriously feels like magic. You’re not wearing any headset, just sitting in front of a “fancy” TV. Given how far and for how long I’ve been from my family – this product hits very close to home for me). There are plenty more updates out there, written by much more talented writers and journalists, so go check them out. 🙂 Finally, the most impactful conclusion I’ve gotten from today was about the evolution of the engineering workforce. We (and I dare to self-assign an engineering label) are morphing into a brand-new cohort of creators. Creators, whose job is to solve some of the world’s hardest technical problems. Our jobs are not to be replaced, but to be empowered, to increase the velocity of our impact on the world of tomorrow. #empoweringbrightideas P.S. Hey! I completed a new Project, AI ChatBot. as a Software Engineer Intern at Headstarter. This was my second Next.js Project with Tailwind Styling, Vercel for Deployment. But we can make it work on specific Use cases as well. This time, I used Google's Gemini API. They are giving Free Limited Access, unlike OpenAI API. I could have also used Azure AI, but I tried different, but it was totally worth the experience. Checkout the cool Feature, spend so much time on: The Responses are streamed, and they get rendered word by word, with a type-writer Effect. It looks Cool. I have just built an AI chatbot in a few hours! This was an assignment for a startup intern role, and I'm thrilled to have completed it. Today, I also applied to some front-end roles at Wellfound and LinkedIn. I learned so much leveraging Google's Gemini APIs, TypeScript, and Shadcn. The development process with Next.js and TypeScript was incredibly smooth and efficient, thanks to its robust type safety. The first open-source implementation of the paper that will change automatic test generation is now available! In February, Meta published a paper introducing a tool to automatically increase test coverage, guaranteeing improvements over an existing code base. This is a big deal, but Meta didn't release the code. Spotter Studio is here!  That’s two posts in a month? For good reason: The crew at Spotter has been working with and for creators like Kinigra Deon, Mr Beast, Dude Perfect or The Oddity for a while. But today marks a whole new milestone. After testing side-by-side with Creators for months, Spotter is releasing Spotter Studio out into the world. Forbes said it well: “Spotter Studio is part project management tool, part creative inspiration resource.” To me, it’s about allowing Creators to drive more views consistently while saving time in one holistic ideation system. Really? Really. Creators are busy, busy people. Our data team told me last week that users generated an average 49% more video views in the first 7 days using our system. That was in beta. That wasn’t a million creators. But it’s hard not to imagine the possibilities. Today is the culmination of hundreds of in-depth sessions at Spotter with Creators to learn from them and a long-standing passion for helping them win. More and more, we've learned to value developers who write clear and concise code. It's not just about making things work; it's about making them work efficiently. Concise code is easier to read, debug, and maintain. 2. Thorough Documentation. Every developer knows the frustration of backtracking through a project to fix issues. Proper documentation is crucial because it not only helps in understanding the original intent but also makes it easier for others (and your future self) to troubleshoot and enhance the code. 3. Student Mindset. Embracing a student mindset means being curious, open to new ideas, and always eager to learn. Continuous learning fuels personal and professional growth and makes for a stellar developer. 4. Collaboration Skills. Great products are rarely built in isolation. We look for developers who can communicate clearly, share ideas, and work well within a team. Active listening, empathy, and the ability to give and receive constructive feedback are all key.
