There’s been a lot of buzz around MCP lately, and for good reason. It’s a major step forward in letting AI assistants do real work, not just talk about it. But the protocol isn’t the whole story. The magic happens in the use cases: booking meetings, sending emails, creating tasks—automatically. In our latest Zap Digest we break down where MCP fits, how Zapier Agents paved the way, and go over some opportunities to learn more.

Love this perspective Bryan Helmig. Let me say up front—I’m a huge fan of Zapier. It’s one of my favorite tools. I’ve used it across creative, marketing, and ops stacks. That said, the “Claude and ChatGPT are like Chrome” analogy really stuck with me. I get where you’re coming from, but for me it misses something essential—kind of like how programmatic hit the media world. These models aren’t just front-end interfaces. I think of them as cognitive layers—interpreting nuance, navigating ambiguity, and, especially for SMBs, increasingly shaping how decisions actually get made. I’m amped about MCP and where this is headed. I’m just curious how we’ll balance orchestration with interpretation. This much I know certain—wherever it lands 2025 is going to be one hell of a ride. 🚀
